A critical-infrastructure client needed to strengthen its counter-drone capability by integrating new sensor technologies into an existing command-and-control platform — under delivery timelines that left no room for a second attempt.
Each sensor arrived with its own vendor API or SDK, its own data shape and its own idea of what a detection looks like. Operators needed one coherent picture, not five feeds. When the client returned for a second engagement the gap had moved: the platform itself needed operational visibility — reliable monitoring, alerting and dashboarding across mission-critical systems, so a failure in the software was as visible as a threat in the sky.
I developed and enhanced software components within the FACE command-and-control platform, integrating multiple sensor technologies through vendor APIs and SDKs. That meant designing data-ingestion services that normalised each vendor's feed into the platform's own model — so adding a sensor became an ingestion problem rather than a change that rippled through the operator interface.
I contributed to the command-and-control functionality and implemented the threat-management logic on top of that unified feed: how a track is classified, escalated and acted on. Throughout, I worked directly with the hardware vendors and technical stakeholders, because most integration surprises live in the gap between a datasheet and the device on the roof.
The client brought me back to keep developing and enhancing the CUAS command-and-control platform — backend functionality and user-interface improvements, at the same delivery cadence and under the same clearance requirements.
Alongside feature work I implemented monitoring and observability using Prometheus and Grafana, designing dashboards for real-time visibility into system health and performance. On a mission-critical platform the question is not only "is there a threat" but "is the thing that watches for threats still working" — and that now has an answer on a screen rather than in someone's head.
